Educator and Student Programs

The educator and student programs provide educators with the emotional skills they need to become more effective in the classroom. The hands-on activities and tools help educators learn how to harness the wisdom of emotions to decrease stress, manage classrooms effectively, enhance learning, decision-making, and relationships, and improve academic performance. 

The programs involve a two-phase training process. In Phase 1, educators hone their own RULER skills and learn how to use the RULER anchor tools to create a caring and supportive environment for emotional literacy skill building. In Phase 2, educators learn how to teach with the RULER Feeling Words Curriculum. The process typically extends across two years. Teachers of all grades, support staff, special service providers, coaches, and paraprofessionals are encouraged to participate in trainings. A train-the-trainer model is available.

Phase 1: The Anchors of Emotional Literacy (K-12)

• A step-by-step process for both implementing and sustaining emotional literacy learning and skill-building in classrooms
• A comprehensive, user-friendly manual to support instruction
• Concrete tools that can be implemented immediately into Pre-K to 12 classrooms
• Multiple trainings and professional coaching
• Ongoing support vis-à-vis webinars and online communities 
• Orientation and initial preparation for teaching the Feeling Words Curriculum (Phase 2)
• Interactive classroom materials

Phase 2: Feeling Words Curriculum (K-2, 3-5, 6-8: High School and Preschool in development)

• Integrates into and complements traditional classroom curricula in English language arts and social studies, as well as other subjects
• A comprehensive, user-friendly manual and lesson guide
• Available for kindergarten through grade 8
• Multiple trainings and professional coaching
• Ongoing support vis-à-vis webinars and online communities
• Interactive classroom materials
